We stayed here at the end of August. Completely stunning with the loveliest owners. Added bonus of a lakeside bar/restaurant a two minute stroll away. The perfect countryside retreat without isolation. 5 stars all day long !

Nick&Julia,

First class
Both myself and my husband loved this place. The 1 bedroom house from the three. As soon as we walked through the front door we felt at home. Jacqui and Stephen were there to greet us, take us through the house and answer any questions that we had, which made us feel very welcome. We both loved the character of the place and were very impressed with how they had renovated and to such a high standard. The shared pool was perfect for a cool down dip after being out during the day or before we went out. There is also a huge garden space to sit out in and under the shade of trees which is needed at times because the weather was hot. Everything we expected to be part of a holiday rental was there, even more from the hairdryer, straighteners, BBQ to French adapters to plug in our U.K. plugs. Even a shopping bag to take when we need to get groceries. With a small supermarket within 10 minutes and larger ones within a 20 minute drive. Whilst we were one of three houses together we loved the peacefulness we could get but also being able to chat and get to know our neighbours. Located near Lac du Mondon which was lovely in the evening to sit down by. The Lac has a lovely bar/restaurant which does amazing food. If you stay here then you need to try their fish and chips!!!! The best we have had ever and we have some pretty amazing fish and chips shops in Norfolk! Also very friendly staff. Would definitely recommend Les Trois Petite Masions for a couple, a family or even a couple of families together. Location was perfect for us as we could discover not only the Limousin but also parts of the Poitou-Charentes region of France. The welcome pack was just what was needed and very much appreciated. Just left for me to say thank you to Jacqui and Stephen for making such a beautiful and wonderful place to stay and the conversations we had about living in France with some very useful information.

Lorraine Mahood,

If there's a title for the best possible hosts in the world, that would belong to Jacqui and Steve. Only thanks to their exceptional professionalism, kindness and genuine will to step out of their comfort to help us out, they made possible for us to come to France and stay with them for three months. We stayed at La Grace cottage which is so beautiful, cozy, conveniently equipped with all we could possibly need. Cottages are located on a perfect spot, the forest with a lovely river is literally across the street as well as a beautiful lake. It is quiet and green and if you are into running, hiking or simply walking and having fun, you will absolutely adore this place. The internet is excellent, the connection is fast reliable and stable! This is an absolutely perfect place for digital nomads. We warmly recommend La Grace to couples too, because you'll be mesmerized with French villages in Limousin, and you'll enjoy romantic nights by the fire, for sure. After three months, we really can not find anything that could be counted as a downside of the cottage. Jacqui and Steve--We'll never forget your kindness, thank you for having us! That was the best three months of our lives. See you again! Sanja and Toni

Sanja & Toni,

This was our second stay at Les Trois Petites Maisons, except this time we stayed in La Josselyn (only because La Amelia was already booked!). However, we weren't disappointed! The cottage was absolutely beautiful, as was the weather and we had lovely neighbours which all in all made for a fantastic week yet again. Due to the fantastic weather we had, we made good use of the BBQ and the swimming pool which is lovely and refreshing with the added knowledge that it is all fenced in with a safety alarm. This meant our little boy could run about to his hearts content in the lovely big garden without having to worry too much!
We really can't fault anything about our stay, if you are wanting a quiet relaxing break in absolutely beautiful accommodation and surroundings then I think you will struggle to find anywhere to beat Les Trois Petites Maisons! We certainly won't hesitate to return..........again!!

Debbie, Adam & Jack,

Very nice stay with the family in an very quiet location. We rented the three houses (Parents, sister and ourself) and all are as equally well equiped with eye for details! Great big garden and ideal swimming pool with good safety alarm and fence so we didn't had to worry that our small kids could drown. Certainly a must!

Joachim Vanstaen,

“Lovely little house in a nice countryside with a river nearby. Nice size pool and large garden. Forget about your alarm clock, birds will wake you up singing :) Hosts are very kind and making sure you feel comfortable and that you have all you need to enjoy your stay.”

Charlotte,

Had a fantastic 1 week stay in La Amelia, the pictures on the website really do not do it justice! (1 week wasn't really long enough!)
We were met by Steve and Jacqui when we arrived, who were absolutely fantastic hosts. A lovely welcome basket was also awaiting us, milk in the fridge along with a bottle of much needed wine after the journey!
We cannot fault anything about our stay, it really was fantastic and wouldn't think twice about returning! Would highly recommend to anyone who is thinking of booking any of the cottages, they really are beautiful and ours was a little home from home!

Debbie, Adam & Jack,

We can only echo the comments below. For a tranquil family holiday these cottages are unbeatable. As others have said, Steve and Jacqui are impeccable hosts, unobtrusive but always on hand. We rented the two cottages at either end as a family, with us Gran and Granddad in the one bedroom La Grace and Daughter and Son in Law with the two Grandchildren in the larger La Amelia. The cottages were superbly and tastefully appointed, the beds were very comfortable and the linen and towels changed weekly. We would recommend the nearby Auberge for midday and evening meals on non- barbeque days, it is a five minute walk away, and the grounds host a local market and food festival every other Friday during the summer season. We cannot stress enough the pristine condition of the cottages and pool. Steve is there every other morning to maintain and clean the pool, and we enjoyed our chats with him and Jacqui when she changed the linen at the week-end. We will be back in 2018 probably in May or June.

Garry Keenan,

We really enjoyed our stay. It is very peaceful and quiet and has all the ingredients for a relaxed vacation. The house itself is lovely suited and well equipped as well as the garden, which is very big and due to the fact that there is a natural fence around it we could let our children play without having to guard the surroundings. Jacqui and Steve are very kind and helpful and make you feel at home. We stayed for one week but could easily stayed longer.”

Lodewijk,

Stayed in this lovely cottage last week, had a warm welcome by owners. Cottage was Of a high standard throughout ,as it was early in season had a lovely log fire in lounge to light ,which was needed in the evening. Cottage had everything you needed down to a welcome basket. Lake and bar/restaurant was closed in week due to out of season when we where there. If you want a restful holiday it's ideal but has plenty of places to visit within an hours Drive. Had a very enjoyable stay and will be going back to stay at cottage.

Carol Hutson,

Our family rented all 3 cottages for 2 weeks in August. We could not fault anything. The cottages are beautifully decorated and have everything you need for your stay. The outside area is amazing with us each having our own BBQ and table and chairs. The four children (aged 7 to 10) loved the pool and were in it every day and they had plenty of space to run around and play ball games. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the relaxing holiday! Plenty of things around if you want to enjoy a day out, we visited Futurescope and Lac de Saint-Pardoux, which were both enjoyed by all. The campsite at Lac de Mondon is just across the road (a 2 minute walk) and has pedal boats, a pool, playground and a bar. The bar was great for ice creams and drinks. The owners were very welcoming yet not intrusive and were just up the road if we needed anything. Overall, a fantastic place to stay, we all loved it!

Claire Redpath,

A wonderful 10 days in Sunny France 30 to 35 oC for the 10 days - the 3 cottages are lovely, we were met by Steve & Jacqui on arrival and were given all the information about the cottage with loads of tips as to where to go and what to see. we had the middle cottage as we have 2 younger children and it was superb, beautiful inside with lots of room, outside the back BBQ table & chairs, large pool fenced off & alarmed for safety, Steve was there every other day to clean the pool and be on hand for any problems or questions, behind the pool there was a very large grassed area to have fun with the kids. the cottage has a dishwasher and washing machine, free view English TV to get the kids out of the sun for a while each day and lovely bed rooms up stairs. There is a big lake and camping facility 200 yards from the front door with a swimming pool and stuff to do, the restaurant is owned by an English couple and the food is lovely, esp Thursday when they do Traditional fish and chips. A small town near by (5 mins in the car) for the local fresh bread or a small supermarket for essentials, if you need more there is a Le Clerc Hyper market 15 mins drive in the next town. We had neighbors both sides for the 10 days and we met some lovely people esp in the evening with a glass of Wine & BBQ on. We loved our stay and Steve & Jacqui could not do enough, a lovely couple and would definitely stay again 10/10

Les Cole,

We rented the “La Emelia” cottage for seven nights and am very happy to echo the comments of Liz P below (who was there the same week as us). The cottage is of exceptional quality, providing a fantastic home from home. The swimming pool and grounds are of a very high standard and well maintained. The location of the cottage provided easy trips into the local towns of Saint-Sulpice & La Souterraine where we found a range of supermarkets & restaurant’s. The area around the cottage really helped make the holiday special. The walk to the lake is literally 2mins. Access to the pool was free for children under 14years & only 3 euro’s per day / adult. I should mention at this point that swimming shorts for boys / gents are prohibited – proper swimming trunks (budgie smugglers) only. Our 7 & 9 year old children loved this pool with slides. On site is a bar / restaurant run by an English family – very friendly, basic menu but good food – can honestly recommend the fish & chip night. There is a sign posted walk along the river from the lake. The water level was low in August which meant that while the waterfall wasn’t so spectacular the kids could climb over all of the rocks and boulders that were exposed along the river – great fun was had by all.
I would just like to say a big thank-you to Jacqui & Steve – as Liz mentioned they were there to meet us, a lovely welcome basket provided complete with a much needed bottle of wine & they were there to wave us off. They really have created something special with this place.
We will definitely return in the future.

Dan P,

We have just returned from a wonderful week’s holiday in this gite. We had a very relaxing, enjoyable stay and we were lucky to find this. As we had 35 degree heat some days, including the day we arrived, the pool was wonderful for cooling off regularly and very well kept. The gite is well furnished with high quality fittings and furniture. The bed was exceptionally comfortable and the best I have had use of when travelling. We ate out most evenings but did use the oven, which was of good quality and very quick to heat. We had use of a barbecue and some charcoal and firelighters were left for our use. It was very calm sitting in the garden and we loved this so didn't use the other community pool which was less than five minutes' walk away. There are supermarket facilities a short drive away and a range of restaurants. The shower was large and towels were thick and of good quality. The owners, Jacqui & Steve, were friendly and accommodating, greeting us on arrival and waving us off when we left. I booked at short notice when they had a cancellation booking and they arranged a comfortable additional bed for our daughter. The bedroom is large and even with another bed in the room it still felt spacious. They left a welcome pack with essentials including a bottle of wine, which was lovely to receive on arrival and saves on buying large packs of sugar, tea and coffee for a short stay. Although we do our best to speak French we are far from fluent. It was so nice and easy arranging things in English. Jacqui & Steve obviously take pride in their work. Everything is kept beautifully and I will recommend them without reservation to friends and family. Thank you x

Liz P,

Zekere aanrader.”

Eelco,

We had a very good start of our holidays at the cottage of Stephen and Jacqui! When we arrived we had a warm welcome and we felt at home. The place was ready for us and a bottle of wine was waiting! Jacqui and Stephen are great hosts and available when needed. Thanks for having us, we would love to enjoy your cottages with pool in the peacefull surroundings again! Kindest regards, Pieter, Roos, Fleur and Philippe

Roos,

We spent a week at this wonderful cottage in December 2015. We honestly cannot say enough good about the cottage itself or the owners. We were traveling together with our two small dogs and wanted a relaxing getaway, out of the city, before heading to the south of France to visit family for Christmas, and we got -exactly- that. From the amazingly comfortable bed, the beautiful double sided fire and the spacious kitchen (which my husband used to work in during the week we were there) we were so relaxed and happy. That's not even mentioning the beautiful tub!

The owners were incredibly helpful and friendly, but not intrusive. While we did spend quite a bit of time chatting with them, it wasn't because they came around a lot, but rather we just enjoyed their company and ended up chatting whenever we found ourselves in passing. They are truly lovely people who really care about the comfort and enjoyment of their guests. They even had a little Christmas tree and lights set up over the fireplace, which made it even more cozy.

Our city dogs, that rarely get to run off the lead really enjoyed the fenced in garden as well!!

Just a wonderful, wonderful place to stay. We'll definitely be visiting again!

Tammy C,

Cosy, spacious, modern and clean gite. Well equipped large kitchen. We especially loved the living room with 2 comfortable sofas. Beautiful outside area with nice pool!
Friendly hosts. Thanks Jacqui and Steve.

Marloes L,

Lovely accommodation; clean, tasteful, modern, and very well-equipped. Peaceful garden with clean pool and sun beds. Weather let us down but the wood burner came in useful on a couple of cold days. Steve and Jacqui, the owners were delightful, and very helpful.
Food at the restaurant at the nearby lake was reasonably priced and tasty. Lovely location. Would love to go again.

Christine,

We booked the large 2 bed cottage (2 adults and two 13 year old girls) and totally agree it was absolutely super. Everything you could possible need for a great holiday –well done to the owners who have thought of everything and then added those surprising final touches that make your holiday special!! We could not fault anything… accommodation, swimming pool, huge garden and location within 2 minutes walk of lac Mondon, La Benaize river and the forest with other picturesque towns/villages a short drive away. There was plenty to do to enjoy an adventurous break and exceptionally comfortable for a relaxing break if the weather is not so great.
The owners are a lovely relocated English couple who are very knowledgeable on the area. They provided a folder of easy to read information and loads of leaflets from the Tourist Office so we could consider our plans at a leisurely pace whilst drinking a bottle of chilled bubbly in the garden from the totally unexpected welcome provision pack – how’s that for 5 star service!!!!
If you don’t want to cook in the very well equipped kitchen, or use the barbeque (with the provided bag of charcoal and lighter!) you can walk to the lakeside restaurant for tasty fish and chips among other dishes! There are also many of lovely eating places a short drive away where we enjoyed ‘Plat de Jour’ at very reasonable prices.
This is a fantastic holiday cottage and highly recommend to families of all ages. We will definitely return ourselves.

Jackie and Kevin Vince,

These cottages have been recently renovated - very lovingly too! So everything is in good condition and beautifully finished but very much kept to the traditional French style both inside and out. Well equipped and comfortable. The pool is perfect, a good size and depth and cleaned each morning, it has an alarm for children and is fenced. There were plenty of loungers, a table and a parasol. There is a big garden for fun and games. We took the two larger cottages as we had our children and partners join us. So our ages ranged from 16 upwards. We went for a relaxing , family time and it really worked for us. We all did the local forest walks several times. These are marked trails, some of which are quite hilly and physically demanding but you can choose. The forest is literally on your doorstep and is very pretty with a running stream and a waterfall (although this was dried up as there had been not rain for quite some time!) The stream/river is full of prehistoric rocks and wildlife. We also hired bikes at a very reasonable 100 euros for 2 bikes for 3 days to do a little exploring. The cottages are directly opposite a small camp site which has a good/reasonable restaurant bar, often with music nights at a weekend. Also at the campsite is a pool with flume, tennis courts and pedalos on the lake it overlooks. Disappointingly the campsite didn't sell morning bread but there were numerous patisseries within a short drive and they still had croissants and pain au chocolat by the time we found our way there every morning. There is also a very good restaurant in a very pretty village about 7km away, Henris, where a set 3 course menu with wine cost us just 13euros a head! And if you want more to do there is plenty a short drive away, we visited Lac Pardeau , a huge lake with watersports and a beach. So Highlights - finding a deer in the garden one morning, a fab pool, plenty to do locally, great hosts who were really helpful, having wifi to keep up to date , english tv. A very relaxing holiday enjoyed by all!

Julie and Glen,
